Highways’ gamble could ruin us

Have your say

LINCOLNSHIRE County Council Highways has practically killed Grantham with its road experiments. The latest plan, to pave a third of Grantham with York stone at a cost of £1.7 million and the assertion of their spokesperson that this will encourage more shoppers, is one hell of a gamble.

If there is no increase in the number of shoppers, will the entire management of LCC Highways apologise to the people of Grantham and then resign?

Some years ago there was talk of making Grantham a sub-regional town, so far, we’ve had a “takeaway town”, a “chaos town” and very shortly, a “ghost town”.

I believe that LCC Highways is to Grantham, what Gordon Brown was to the Labour Party.
