I AM writing in response to the wonderful letters in the Journal about Newton the fund-raising Bunny.
Newton was the brainchild of Tess Sheehy, Sue Cross and Kirsty Poddington, parents at Huntingtower School, supported by our parent teacher and friend association (PTFA) with the aim of promoting healthy eating and raising money for worthy causes.
To read that “I can’t keep up with the amount of carrots they want to eat, and all because of Newton!” is wonderful.
To further read that people were uplifted by the Easter parade Newton took part in and that our children were a credit to us was also very rewarding.
When the people of Grantham raise £3,000 for Grantham Hospice, The Grantham Hospital Children’s Ward and Huntingtower School, it clearly demonstrates how generous our town is.
Special thanks also to Speedy Hire, East Midlands Sound and Light, Grantham Fire Service, Barclays Bank, Costcuteer, B&Q, Thornton’s, Morrisons, the Mayor and, of course, the Grantham Journal.
Well done Grantham, what a wonderful team effort.
