A century for Oldfield

Everards Original Borough & District Evening League Division One

Belvoir Midweek XI 189-2

Tilton & Lowesby 73-9.

Belvoir Midweek earned a116-run victory over Tilton & Lowesby, thanks to a century from Greg Oldfield.

Lewis Dann (50) and Ryan Lewis showed aggression.

After Lewis’ departure, Dann continued with some lusty blows bringing up his 50 from 31 balls.

At the other end, Oldfield started more sedately with only 10 runs from his first 10 balls and 17 from the next.

Then he found his groove, his ton coming off 42 balls with six fours and 12 sixes.

Chasing 190 to win, Tilton & Lowesby lost a wicket to Fentem Fraser from the second ball.

There were signs of resistance as Tilton struggled to 59 for 2 with a run-a-ball 41 for Snaith.

But Belvoir’s bowling was too accurate and when Tony Richardson (2-14) took wickets with consecutive balls it was all but over.

Belvoir’s fielding was sharp with Joe Bottomley taking four catches, although one was from a no-ball, and Fentem a couple at point.
