Annual Grantham Town golf day is a success

Grantham Town FC’s annual Terry Bly Memorial charity golf day took place at Belton Park on Monday.

Twenty-eight teams took part in the competition on a course made superb by recent rain.

Amongst the 118 players competing was Northampton Saints and England rugby union international player Lee Dickson.

Cups and prizes, ranging from golf bags to golf clothing and bottles of whisky, were presented by Mrs Glenda Bly and Belton Park club captain Tony Nickson.

Grantham Town and organiser Nigel Marshall thanked all the sponsors, without whom the event could not have taken place.

Results: 1 Barry Chappell, Pete Dreschler, Keith Oswin and Gary Scott 90pt; 2 Ron Harrison, Dave Carter, Fred O’Loughlin and John Bower 86; 3 Mark Baker, Terry Pexton, Nigel Turner and Pretty 84 ocg; 4 Dale Maplethorpe, Gerry Short, Neil Cleveland and Brian Cherrill 84.

Nearest the pin in two: 3rd hole – Charlie Lager, 16th hole – Ronnie Harrison; nearest the pin – 6th hole – Tony Davies, 17th hole – Spike Carr.
