The six Regional Finals of the English Schools’ Combined Events competition were held at the weekend.

Priory Ruskin Academy student Lewis Davey competed in the East Anglian competition which was held at Bedford, with athletes from eight counties taking part.

Lewis represented Lincolnshire in the under-17 octathlon competition, competing in four events on each day.

He enjoyed an outstanding weekend and won his age group with a total points score of 4,961. This was more than 400 points higher than he achieved last year and places him fourth in the UK rankings. He produced four personal best performances in his individual events.

Results: long jump 6.58m pb, discus 32.21m, javelin 34.62m, 400m 49.6s, 100m hurdles 13.9sec pb, high jump 1.75m, shot 10.67m, 1500m 4m 45.1sec pb.

Lewis has gained selection for the ESAA Combined Events Final which will be held at Boston in September. Last year, in his first year in this age group, he gained 12th place in the final out of the 42 athletes in the competition.
