ATHLETICS: Grantham AC contest national cross country relays

Members of Grantham Athletic Club competed in the English National Cross Country Relays at Mansfield on Saturday.

First off for GAC were the under-17 men with Ollie Jakes running the first leg in 11min 18sec to place the team in 66th place. Robert Hodgkinson ran the second leg in 10:48 to move GAC up six places, whilst Ethan Richards-Cole recorded 10:34 to give the club a final finishing place of 51st.

In the under-13 girls, Helen Braybrook ran an outstanding first leg in 7:36 to finish in 10th position.

The under-13 boys team of Rori and Ewan Rodell and Peter Braybrook ran their legs in 7:21 (28th) 7:46 (25th) and 8:07 for a final finish position of 33rd.

Next up for GAC were the under-15 boys with Aaron Hunt running the first leg in 6:49 (37th), George Hatton 7:41 (63rd) and William Tucker 6:52, to finish in 42nd position.

The final race of the day was the senior men’s race with Dean Houlton taking the first leg in 19:37 (144th). He handed on to Arthur Short 20:50 (140th) and then Chris Hunt 25:47 (146th), with Mark Tucker bringing the team home in 141st position with a time of 22:15.
