ATHLETICS: Grantham AC’s Anderson wins at Newark

Grantham Athletic Club’s Janice Anderson is getting back to form and registered a first ladies’ place at the 5km Newark parkrun on Saturday.

Dona Hall continued achieving personal bests and this week lowered it by three seconds at the Milton Keynes parkrun.

Results. Newark – 23 Keith Measure 23.46, 26 Janice Anderson 24.26; Milton Keynes – 142 Richard Hall 24.48, 322 Dona Hall 33.09.

Three GAC members took part in the Robin Hood Half-marathon at Nottingham in ideal running conditions at the weekend. Tony Madge was rewarded with a season’s best at the distance after shaking off injury niggles from earlier in the year. Mark Tucker took more than five minutes off his PB while chaperoning his daughter Sophia around the course. Normally running on the track or cross country, Sophia set a respectable benchmark time in her first half-marathon.

Results: 617 Tony Madge 1.35.22, 1270 Sophia Tucker 1.44.01, 1274 Mark Tucker 1.44.04.

Chris Hunt just missed a season’s best by a single second at the West Pinchbeck 10km on Sunday, recording a time of 48.28 to finish 60th.
