ATHLETICS: Grantham AC’s Collier wins Belton House ladies’ race

Although there were two other large running events happening locally at the weekend, Grantham Athletic Club still had 11 athletes competing at five parkruns.

Naomi Collier showed true class to win the ladies’ race at Belton House and finished second overall. Stephen Hobday was less than 30 seconds behind Naomi to take third overall.

l Grantham AC had a good turnout of runners for the popular Grimsthorpe 10k which has returned to the race calendar after a few years’ absence.

In the 3k event, Aaron Hunt took top honours, winning in 9:53.69, and Isabel Hobday was seventh overall and third female in a time of 11:39.53.

Stephan Hobday’s impressive run saw him take first V40 honours in the 10k race, with Chris Hunt not too far behind to take the sixth vet place. Saskia Hunt continued her strong running form and finished first in the U20W category, while mum Dawn finished third in her category.

Results: 11 Stephen Hobday 42:13, 22 Chris Hunt 44:58, 54 Arthur Short 53:01, 57 Saskia Hunt 53:20, 84 Dawn Hunt 1:04:26, 101 Phil Hall 1:12:11.
