An unscheduled half marathon last weekend did not stop Grantham AC’s Sophie Stanley reducing her personal best in the Ashby 20-mile road race

The event, now in its 25th year, takes place over an undulating two-lap course and Sophie’s 2hr 40min 48sec performance looks promising for her target race – the London marathon next month.

l The club had 11 runners out at three 5km parkruns over the weekend.

Dean Houlton made a comeback from a nasty injury and posted a 19.16 performance at Lincoln. William Tucker managed a top three position at Belton House and reduced his PB by 13 seconds, while Julie Stewart returned to form with an impressive run to knock 41 seconds off her PB.

Results: Lincoln – 8 Dean Houlton 19.16; Newark – 38 Keith Measures 25.16; Belton House – 3 William Tucker 18.41, 12 George Hatton 20.56, 13 Paul Davidson 20.59, 27 Mark Tucker 23.17, 33 Julie Stewart 23.50, 60 John Ellerby 26.38, 93 Richard Hall, 30.23, 102 Dona Hall 31.03, 147 Catherine Muir 45.54, 151 Janice Anderson 58.16 (tailrunner).
