Three Grantham Athletic Club youngsters ran well at the English Indoor Age Group Championships at the EIS in Sheffield, but were also dogged with bad luck.

In the under-15 girls’ 60m, KGGS pupil Amy Hunt finished in second place to collect a silver medal, recording 7.89sec in her heat and 7.90 in the final. Aged just 12 years and one of the youngest in the competition, she is now ranked fourth in the event for her age group nationally.

Ranked eighth in the 200m, Amy finished fifth 25.64 in the heat but was disqualified in the final for stepping on the line.

She will now focus on achieving the qualifying times necessary for the English Schools Championships at Gateshead in July.

Clubmate Zoe Lucas won her heat of the under-20 women’s 60m hurdles in 8.90 but was disqualified from the final for a false start. She is now ranked seventh nationally for the event.

In the under-20 men’s 60m heats, Josh Brown equalled his personal best of 7.34 but did not make the final. He was then disqualified from the 400m after he stepped on the line.
