Grantham Running Club’s Catherine Payne won first prize for her age group for the third time in five years at the St Ives 10km.

The undulating Cambridgeshire course climbed up to the exposed taxiways of RAF Wyton before looping back to the town itself.

Although Catherine’s time of 44min 23sec was well down on last year’s performance, it was a pleasing return to the distance after a gap of 10 months, used concentrating on much longer races

Also running was clubmate Robert McArdle, also in his first 10km of the year, who was delighted with a time of 47:33 as he returns from injury.
