Grantham Running Club’s Gav Meadows took part in the Rugby Half-marathon on Sunday.

The undulating course was made much tougher by the hot and humid conditions on the day. Gav finished in a creditable 43rd place in a field of 600 runners with a solid time of 1hr 37min 18sec.

Gav said: “This may have been the toughest half-marathon I’ve ever done, purely because of the weather on the day. I took part in the same race last year and although it’s fairly hilly, I don’t remember it being anywhere near this hard.

“The heat really knocked the stuffing out of me. I’m certainly not built for it with my fair complexion.”
