This year’s Derby Ramathon Half Marathon attracted a field of 3,000 runners including a trio from Grantham Running Club.

The warm temperatures did not deter the personal best-hunting team on this flat course. Starting at the iPro Stadium before heading into Derby city centre and through Elvaston Castle Country Park, the temperatures began to soar once the runners arrived on the River Derwent path back to the stadium finish.

Andrew Pask was well on target for a sub-1:30 race up until the nine mile point when he started to feel the pace. Having to dig deep for the final few miles, he managed to produce a respectable time of 1:31:16, his fifth fastest over the distance.

The ever improving Paul Davis was next home, running his third half marathon PB of the year with an impressive 1:34:19. Andrew MacAllister followed with 1:51:56, outside his best but he was pleased with a solid run.

Unfortunately, the event was overshadowed by the death of a 38-year-old man as he approached the finish.
