Grantham Running Club’s international itinerant athlete Paul Rushworth began his 2015 campaign by taking part in the Trio for Justice 10km race in Thailand.

The race ran through Chaing Mai’s Doi Suthep National Park and was organised to raise awareness of the need for disadvantaged families to be able to access legal advice in rural Thai communities.

The race was run over an out and back course across undulating terrain around Lake Huai Tueng Thao.

Paul missed the 10km turn and ended up running an additional 3km across the half-marathon course. Despite his extra efforts, he still managed to finish sixth with a time of 1hr 1min 16sec.

l Half a dozen Grantham RC athletes contested the Parkruns at Newark and Melton Mowbray on Saturday.

Results: Newark – Andrew Spencer 23:19, Sarah High 26:13, Lucy Roberts 29:05; Melton – 15 Iain Brown 20:46, 54 Kevin Baker 23:10, 71 Ruth Dunstan 33:32.
