ATHLETICS: Grantham youngsters perform well at blustery YDL meeting

Grantham Athletic Club’s youngsters were in action on Saturday in the last round of the Youth Development League at Nuneaton.

The team produced some excellent results in blustery conditions.

In the under-15 girls, Amy Hunt continued her fine form one week after winning the 100m at the English Schools, storming home to win the 300m to place her high in the UK rankings for the distance.

Gareth Lee tried his hand at the 800m for the first time and won the race from team-mate Rory Rodell for a Grantham one-two.

Results: U13 Girls, 75m A - Helen Braybrook 3rd 11.3, 75m B - Gabrielle Lucas 5th 11.2; 70m H - Gabrielle Lucas 2nd 12.1; 1200m - Helen Braybrook 1st 4m 01.3; Long Jump - Gabrielle Lucas 4th 3.81m; Javelin - Helen Braybrook.

U15 Girls, 100m - Jessica Oates 2nd 13.2; 200m - Jessica Oates 2nd 27.6; 300m - Amy Hunt 1st 40.4, 75m H - Frances Sheard 2nd 12.8; Discus A - Morgan Holmes 5th 17.09, Discus B - Amy Hunt 1st 15.72; Hammer - Morgan Holmes 3rd 17.95; Shot Put A - Amy Hunt 2nd 8.05, Shot Put B - Morgan Holmes 2nd 6.64; Long Jump B - Jessica Oates 2nd 4.11, Long Jump A - Frances Sheard 3rd 4.17.
