ATHLETICS: Damp and dreary Caythorpe Dash is a success

Last Sunday’s ninth annual Caythorpe Dash half-marathon began in overcast, wet and windy conditions which turned sunny later.

Nineteen mixed teams of men and women took part, along with 74 individual entrants, in another successful race.

The men’s event was won by Mike Burnett (Leeds AC) in 1hr 31min 53sec and Emma Gould (West Brom Harriers) was first lady and second overall. The team event was won by Louth AC in a combined time of 7.29.24.

The Grantham AC team finished fifth in 8.29.08 and comprised Keith Measures (2.04.28), John Bainbridge (2.04.28), Lucy Roberts (2.15.42) and Sarah High (2.04.30).

Running individually, Adrian Carder (Toonie Express) finished in 2.21.32.
