Grantham’s very popular road race, the Newton’s Fraction half-marathon and Little Apple 3km family fun run take place on Sunday, March 13 at the South Kesteven Sports Stadium.
The annual event, organised by Grantham Athletic Club, has grown in numbers from 150 entrants back in 2006 to a record sell-out 500 last year. In 2015, the Newton’s Fraction was rated one of the top 50 road races by Runner’s World.
Entries for the half-marathon are coming in thick and fast, with 400 runners already signed up.
The half-marathon is a regular fixture for local and regional runners, including those stepping up to a half-marathon distance for the first time and others preparing for a spring marathon, such as in London or Manchester.
With the benefits of excellent stadium facilities, there is plenty of parking, changing facilities and refreshments available from Grantham Town FC’s Gingerbread Suite.
The Little Apple family fun run is a 3km race from the stadium around the sports complex off Trent Road. It is a wonderful opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a road race, but without the distance.
Each year the proceeds of the fun run go to two charities, as part of GAC’s community commitments. This year, the club are grateful again for the assistance from Inspire+’s Sports Ambassadors.
The event is sponsored by sportswear manufacturer Brooks, with local support and sponsorship provided by Brewster’s Brewery and Marren Tiles of Grantham.
So whether you are a club runner, keen amateur or fancy a fun run and you want to take part in either of the two events, entry details can be found on the event website at www.granthamac.com/nf
