GRANTHAM Running Club member Gerry Hyde was in action last weekend in the Kinetica Spring Ballbuster Duathlon at Box Hill in Surrey.

The gruelling five lap race comprised an eight-mile run, 24-mile cycle and another eight-mile run, with the course taking in a total of 3,000ft of climbing.

Also a member of Witham Wheelers, Gerry was pleased to run the second eight miles quicker than the first and finished 18th in his age group and 124th overall in 3hr 35min 6sec, despite a lingering calf injury.

• Grantham Athletic Club’s Paul Rushworth continued his preparation for the London Marathon by setting a personal best in the Stafford 20 at the weekend, recording 2.21.36 for the distance.

The previous Sunday, Paul achieved a season’s best 1.25.07 in the Milton Keynes Half-marathon.
