Athletes from Grantham Running Club gave a good account of themselves at the Peterborough Great Eastern Run last Sunday.

Heavy rain and a strong northerly headwind for the first six miles of the half-marathon course did not prevent five club members recording personal bests.

Andrew Pask’s time of 1hr 30min 32sec was more than three minutes faster than he had run before. Scott Jones and Holly Durham both continued their run of personal bests at all distances, whilst Ruth Dunstan took over 10 minutes off her time to finish in 2.02.40.

Five runners were attempting the race distance for the first time and fastest GRC member was David Kay in 1.25.42.

Other results: Holly Durham 1.32.23 pb, Scott Jones 1.32.31 pb, Thomas Williamson 1.34.03, Ben Harness 1.38.11, Catherine Payne 1.38.36, Robert McArdle 1.40.41, Robert Howbrook 1.41.13, Sarah High 1.45.04, Penny Hodges 1.45.01, Lucy Roberts 1.50.56, Andrew Spencer 1.49.01 pb, Anna Littlecott 2.02.39, Chris England 2.11.14, Lisa Burn 2.07.56, Yvonne Taylor 2.22.28, Gwenda Williams 2.23.15.

l Elsewhere, GRC’s Iain Brown set a personal best in the Munich Half-marathon with a time of 1.29.47, with clubmate Wendy Johnston recording 1.55.16.
