Grantham Running Club’s Paul Rushworth travelled to the Pennines to take part in the Milltown to Moors Half-marathon.

The race left Oldham town centre before climbing four miles out to the moors around Saddleworth. The hilly nature of the course continued through the full 13.1 miles. Paul completed the race in 1hr 38min 9sec.

l In pursuit of a quick 5km course, GRC’s Matthew Kingston-Lee headed south to take part in the Peterborough Parkrun around Ferry Meadows.

He took off at the start in exuberant fashion, taking the lead after 200m and headed the field after the opening kilometre by several seconds. He led until around halfway but held on to second position until the finish, clocking 17.21 which was frustratingly just one second outside his personal best.

l On the other side of the world, GRC’s John Blair competed in the Brackenbury 10km run was delighted to finish as third man home in a time of 1.01.20.

l Poor weather ruled out fast times in the Great Birmingham Half-marathon and GRC’s Dave Kay was pleased to finish the tough event in 1.26.52.
