New personal bests and top spots were the order of the day as Grantham Running Club dominated Newark Park Run on Saturday.

The weather was still, cool and overcast – good conditions to put in a good performance.

Setting a PB and crossing the line in top spot was the first order of business for new club runner William Parkin. This was his first outing at a park run and he managed to race his way to a first place finish in a time of 18min 40sec.

And it did not stop there. Anna O’Hare posted a fantastic 19:34, a new PB for her and a time which saw her eclipse the competition and cross the line as the first lady and fifth overall.

It was her second outstanding performance of the week, coming just six days after leading GRC ladies to the top of the Lincolnshire Cross Country League. Anna smashed the old club ladies’ record for this course to set the second fastest ever time for a female at Newark.

Also running were Warren Stark (21:58), Penny Hodges (22:36) and Ruth Dunstan who rounded off a great day with a PB. She took a minute off her fastest time to finish in 23:36. Ruth has reduced her 5km PB by almost three minutes during 2014
