Grantham athletes perform well in Lincs Wolds cross-country

Athletes of all ages from Grantham Athletic Club took part in the third match of the Lincolnshire Cross-country League at Hubbard’s Hills, Louth, last Sunday.

Helen Braybrook was only beaten by two boys in the under-11 race. Frances Sheard finished fourth girl and Phoebe Richards-Cole was one place behind. Jordan Seetul-Drew was sixth boy.

In the under-13s girls’, Letitia Barrowcliff was fifth and Saskia Hunt 11th. William Tucker won the boys’ event, ahead of clubmate Ethan Richards-Cole in second, Ben Dewar fourth and Aaron Hunt eighth.

Sophia Tucker triumphed in the under-20 age group and Caryn Garner was sixth in the veteran ladies’ race. Jake Richardson once again led from the front to win the under-17 men’s event.

Grantham AC had seven runners in the under-20/senior/veteran race. First home was Arthur Short in 11th overall, followed by Paul Davidson 24th, Mark Gray 44th, John Ellerby 48th, Dave Eldridge 53rd, John Bainbridge 56th, Stewart Broughton 59th and Phil Hall 37th.

The final race of the day saw Kerry Smith finish 13th in the under-15 girls’.

Grantham AC will host the fourth and final match at PGL, Caythorpe, on Sunday.
