Grantham athletes tackle Robin Hood in Nottingham

FOUR runners from Grantham took part in the Robin Hood Half Marathon at Nottingham.

First of the quartet home was Grantham Running Club’s David Gregory in 1hr 44min 45sec, closely followed by Dave Eldridge (1.47.56). Making their debut at the distance, Vicky Clarke recorded 1.53.51 and Graham Livermore 2.19.12.

l GRC’s Gordon Geach improved his marathon personal best in Berlin, knocking 25 minutes off his previous time to finish in 3.20.53.

l Paul Davidson ran the Jungfrau mountain marathon in the Swiss Alps, and was delighted to finish in 5.08.26.

l A team of seven contested the inaugural Green Wheel Relay around Peterborough, which raised money for Help for Heroes.

Mixing youth with experience, the team finished runners-up in the mixed category. Jake Hornby was the second fastest male over stage two, with both Josh Lord and Arthur Short claiming third in their respective legs. Making up the rest of the team were Scott Jones, Lucy Roberts, Bill Lodge and John Bainbridge.
