A small but perfectly formed group of Belvoir Tri Club athletes turned out for the weekend of racing in and around Belvoir Castle at the weekend.
The Speedy Beaver, Little Beaver and The Beaver triathlons used the lake within the castle grounds for the swim, before heading out into The Vale for a windy bike leg, before taking in the long, slow hill from the lake up to Brewers Grave for the run, with the longer distances taking in multiple laps of the same course.
Bohdan Dawyd was the weekend’s first “Belvoir” to tackle the “Beaver” which was the longer of the three events, a half-ironman distance event. He completed the 1.9km swim, 74km bike and 20km run in 4hr 53min 0sec.
Louise George and Wayne Searle competed in the Little Beaver event. Louise completed the Olympic distance event with a total time of 3:22:29, with Wayne coming in a close club-second with a total time of 3:29:21.
Leanne Graham took on the Speedy Beaver, crossing the finish line of the Sprint distance event in a time of 1:54:27
l Further afield, Glynn Attiwell took part in the gruelling Slateman Triathlon in Snowdonia, a non-standard open water event comprising of a 1km swim, a 51km bike over the Llanberis Pass, followed by a 11km trail run through an old slate quarry.
Glynn finished the event in 2:45:13 to pick up 24th place in his age group out of a total of 396 M40+ triathletes.
