In a busy week in which four Grantham Badminton Club teams played, the ladies’ firsts were away to Cross O’ Cliff in Division One, and lost by four rubbers to two.

The men’s fourth team travelled to Lincoln to play Albion 3rd in Division Three. They lost 6-3 with each pair picking one rubber from three. Ian Witham played with Dave Chambers, Dean Patel with Henry Turner, and Rod Tyler with James Chandler.

Meanwhile at home, mixed fortunes in Division Two saw the men’s second string beat Westside 2nd by five rubbers to four. Daniel Watson played with reserve Dean Patel, Dave Frobisher with John Ashley (reserve) won all their rubbers, and Chris Graves with Martin Peat won two from three.

The men’s third team took on Lincoln St Andrews at home in a tight contest. Carl Jennings with Will Saddler were top performers, picking up two rubbers, Rob Scarborough with Will Tse added one more but lost the other two. Mike Poyser with Anthony Fletcher also added a rubber, but that still left Grantham on the losing end of a 5-4 scoreline.
