Grantham Badminton Club men’s fourth team travelled away to Devon in Division Three of the Newark League.

Despite several close games, and a strange scenario in which three Grantham club members (Craig, Charlie and Simon) and one ex-member (Chris Yeardsley) were in the opposition team, they were well beaten by eight rubbers to one.

Ian Witham played with Dave Chambers, Will Tse with Mike Poyser, with Rob Scarborough and Chris Graves scoring the single Grantham rubber.

In Division One of the Melton Mixed League, Grantham were also away to Bottesford.

There was a top performance from Andrew Watson and Zoe Foote who aced all three rubbers, but Grantham were unable to get over the winning line.

New pairing Carl Jennings and Holly Sparks struggled to get control of the plastic shuttles and narrowly lost a rubber 21-19, 21-19. Rob Scarborough and Kat Perry had two third end deciders and a 25-23 defeat in another game, but only claimed one more rubber for the team to narrowly lose 5-4.
