BADMINTON: Grantham men’s seconds hammer Albion


Grantham Badminton Club men’s second string were at home in Newark League Division Two at the weekend.

They hosted Lincoln Albion 2nd and hammered them 9-0. Chris Graves with Jon Ashley, Andrew Watson with Martin Peat, and Declan Hill with Carl Jennings all beat their opposition.

Grantham men’s first team played away in their Newark League Division One fixture.

The travelled to Southwell and came away with a good five rubbers to four victory. Nick Gill with Tim Hought claimed three rubbers, and Ben Johnson with Jan Bailey won two more. Martin Chambers with Jack Railton narrowly missed out on an extra rubber.

The men’s fourth team also travelled away to meet Woodborough at Southwell in Newark League Division Three.

However, Woodborough proved strong opposition, with the only successful Grantham pairing being Rod Tyler and Chris Graves who won all of their rubbers. Unsuccessful were Rob Scarborough with Ian Witham, and Will Tse with Dean Patel, with the final score being 6-3 to the home side.
