Grantham Badminton Club men’s third team played away at Crossed Rackets in Division Two and, after their first win last week, were looking to do well.

Rackets were too strong though, ending 8-1 winners despite three rubbers going to a third and deciding end. Carl Jennings with Will Saddler scored the Grantham rubber, Rob Scarborough with Mike Poyser took two of their rubbers to the third game, and Will Tse with Dean Patel took another to three games before losing the rubber.

At the top of the Division One Mixed League, Grantham’s first team clashed with Cross O’ Cliff in a home tie.

Despite a good start for Grantham, Cross O’ Cliff stormed back to level things before the final rubber, which they then also claimed for the win by a narrow 5-4 margin.

Nick Gill with Maria Hart won two rubbers, as did Chung Chan with Kerry Durham. Ben Johnson with Jaz Gilbert also played.
