Grantham Badminton Club men’s third team played away at Lincoln Albion in Division Two.

The team struggled to get to grips with control of the plastic shuttlecock, with Carl Jennings and Will Saddler going closest, picking a rubber up and narrowly losing their other two.

Rob Scarborough with Mike Poyser and Will Tse with Anthony Fletcher also went close in three game rubbers, but failed to win the decisive games, leaving the score looking worse than was the reality, at 8-1 to Albion.

The mixed second team also played Albion in Division Two, this time at home with feathers, and came out with a good 7-2 victory. Martin Peat with Maria Hart won all three of their rubbers, and John Ashley with Jaz Gilbert won two, as did Adrian Ackroyd with Sandra Jennings.

Grantham men’s fourths entertained Balderton at home, but narrowly lost 5-4. Dave Chambers with Mike Poyser won a rubber, as did Dean Patel with Henry Turner, while Rod Tyler with James Chandler won two of theirs. Most of the other rubbers were lost by a matter of a couple of points, making the defeat a tad frustrating.
