Grantham Badminton Club men’s third team were in early action in the new year.

Last Monday, they were away to St Andrews in Division Two, going down narrowly by five rubbers to four. Re-arranged pairings Will Tse with Anthony Fletcher won two rubbers, as did Rob Scarborough with Mike Poyser. Unfortunately, Will Saddler with Carl Jennings had a bad night and failed to add to the score.

They played again at home on Friday against a strong Devon team. Adrian Ackroyd with Dean Patel scored a rubber, as did Mike Poyser with Rob Scarborough. Carl Jennings with Will Saddler also played in the 7-2 Devon victory.

Devon were gunning for victory after losing at home to Grantham men’s seconds earlier in the week. In that match, Mike Poyser with Daniel Watson picked up a rubber, whilst Martin Chambers with Dave Frobisher and Martin Peat with Chris Graves won all theirs.

The mixed first team were in action against Westside 2nd in Division One, winning comfortably 8-1. Kerry Durham played with Chung Chan, Nick Gill with Jaz Gilbert, and Maria Hart with Martin Peat.
