In a much better week for Grantham Badminton Club teams, the mixed second string took on Cross o’ Cliff away in Division Two last Wednesday and hammered the opposition 8-1.

Martin Peat with Maria Hart won all three, as did Chung Chan with Kat Perry. Jon Ashley and Bex Davison won two.

Both in Division Two this season, the men’s third team took on the seconds in a good humoured grudge match.

The seconds were the dominant force in the end, but the thirds applied a lot of pressure at times.

Carl Jennings with Will Saddler claimed a rubber for the third team from Daniel Watson with Anthony Fletcher. Rob Scarborough with Will Tse also took a rubber from the seconds and missed a further opportunity when they were beaten in the third end by Jon Ashley with Chris Graves. Mike Poyser with Dean Patel also played for the thirds. Martin Chambers with Dave Frobisher were unbeaten for the second team, meaning the final score was 7-2 to Grantham 2nd.

Also at home were Grantham mixed first team who swept aside Crossed Rackets in their Division One encounter. Susie Dilloway played with Nick Gill, Ben Johnson with Jaz Gilbert and Kerry Durham with Chung Chan. The final score was 9-0 to Grantham.
