BADMINTON: Mixed results for Grantham club second teams


Grantham Badminton Club men’s and mixed second teams had mixed results at home.

Playing in Division One of the Newark League, the mixed team narrowly missed out on their first win of the season, losing 5-4 to Cross O’ Cliff 2nd. Maria Hart with Ben Johnson won all three of their rubbers, Rob Scarborough with Sandra Jennings failed to add to the score, and John Ashley with Zoe Foote added a single rubber in the close scoreline.

However, the men’s seconds enjoyed a convincing victory versus Crossed Rackets, winning 8-1. Adrian Ackroyd with reserve Declan Hill dropped a rubber, but Both Dave Frobisher with Martin Chambers, and Andrew Watson with Martin Peat, won all theirs.

The mixed seconds also suffered an expected heavy defeat away to Cross O’ Cliff’s first team, goingn down 9-0. Martin Peat with Sandra Jennings did score two games, sending the rubbers to best of three. Carl Jennings played with Zoe Foote, and Jaz Gilbert with Andrew Watson.
