Grantham bowler Denhys Lambley has been elected as president of the Newark Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Bowls Club.

The club is one of the oldest in the Newark League and has several members from the Grantham area, including Keith Walker.

The club was founded in 1920 and was originally called Newark Ladies’ Bowls Club, but in the 1970s players’ husbands were allowed to join up.

Carrying on an age old tradition, president Denhys rolled the first wood of his incumbency and the season.
