Buckminster ease past Thorpe Arnold in Salaman Cup opener

Buckminster became the first team into the semi-finals as the Salaman Cup kicked off at Egerton Park on Friday.

Thorpe Arnold won the toss and batted first in the opening game, and Gillett and Exton got them off to a good start before Exton was out for 16.

Buckminster bowled well and Thorpe struggled to really kick on from there despite Gillett making 64 as their innings closed on 122.

In reply, Buckminster got off to a flyer with both openers hitting regular boundaries as Thorpe failed to match the bowling skills of their opponents.

Luke Clark took three wickets to offer Thorpe some slight hope, and Gillett chipped in with another.

But Buckminster had done enough early on and cruised home by six wickets.

The next first round tie sees Belvoir take on Tilton and Lowesby at Egerton Park on Friday.

The match starts at 6.15pm and spectators are welcome.
