Captain and Kesteven set for season in new division

Kesteven RFC are gearing up for the new season with a trial match against Sleaford at home on Saturday (KO 3pm).

This will be followed up with a session against Stamford away on August 25.

The first competitive match will be at home to Bakewell in the NLD Shield on September 3.

Gavin Purvis was elected Club Captain and is looking forward to the challenge of Midlands League Two, following the success of winning League Three last season.

He will be served well with the team largely staying together.

Last year’s skipper Tom Webster has stepped up to the role of head coach, with Tom Price assisting.

Mark Sayle has taken on a new role of director of rugby and will have an overview of the club’s playing direction across all age groups.

Off the field, James Cheetham has taken over from David Epton as club chairman, who stepped down after nine years in the post.
