Two Belvoir Cricket Club juniors are making a name for themselves further afield.
Lyndon James, of Muston, has been selected to represent the ECB Midlands under-15 squad in this year’s Bunbury Festival at Oakham School later this month.
Lyndon, who is a middle-order batsman for Belvoir CC’s first XI, has captained his Nottinghamshire County Age Group squad for five years and toured Sri Lanka with Notts CCC Academy in February of this year. A pupil of Oakham School, he is looking forward to playing the festival on home soil.
His school expressed its delight in having one of its pupils participating in the prestigious, key cricketing event for showcasing young talent.
Meanwhile, Belvoir clubmate Rosie Penford has been selected to play for England ladies’ under-20 indoor cricket team.
Rosie, 17, is a sixth form student at KGGS and was selected after a summer of trials. She will be travelling to New Zealand in October to take part in an international tournament.
As well as a member of Belvior CC, she also plays county cricket for Notts Ladies and is hoping to study sports science at Loughborough University, home of the ECB headquarters.
