Bottesford Cricket Club opened their Grantham and Melton Association campaign with a home match against local rivals Woolsthorpe by Belvoir on Sunday.

They also marked the occasion with the opening of their new J. W. “Bill” Sutton Memorial scorebox.

The scorebox was officially opened by Bill’s wife Barbara and his son Godfrey who is chairman of the club.

Bill’s brother-in-law Brian Stubley made a speech.

Unfortunately the opening match of the season did not go the home side’s way.

Woolsthorpe won by seven wickets after Bottesford were all out for 78. The visitors finished on 79-3.

Bottesford are from left, back – Ben Jordan, Ryan Charlsworth, Glenn Sutton, Andy Norris, Lee Fazackerly, Will Seymore and Dave Charlesworth; front – Paul Lever, captain Phil Irvine, Nick Silverwood and Sid Silverwood.
