Croxton Kerrial 180

Skillington 96

Skillington won the toss and elected to bowl on what looked a pretty good batting track.

The home side went straight on to the attack as Nigel Howitt scored two boundaries from the first two deliveries. Howitt and Danny Aylin then passed the 50 partnership with just 10 overs on the board.

Howitt was first to go as a top edge, after hitting his shoulder, looped into the air offered a straightforward catch. From then on most of the Croxton batsmen got in but failed to go on and make a big score. Top scorers were Danny Aylin with 31 and Ed Marsh 30. The other highlight was a well-crafted five from Matt Bennet in his maiden club season.

In reply, once Skillington lost Luke Porter for 0, well caught by Jack Dilloway, the innings always lacked momentum.

Skillington’s top scorer was Johnson with 43 before being well stumped by Danny Aylin off the bowling of Chris Jeary. The main damage with the ball was done by Dave Crossland and Leon Aylin, returning 4-18 and 4-19 respectively, with the game wrapped up in the 36th over
