CRICKET: Grantham CC host Lady Taverners T20 finals

Grantham Cricket Club hosted the National Finals of the Girls’ Under-13 and Under-15 Lady Taverners T20 competitions at Gorse Lane.

After making a bid to the England and Wales Cricket Board, the club was selected to host the prestigious event after ECB representatives visited in December last year and were impressed with the playing and practice facilities on offer.

Over two days, the club welcomed eight teams from across the county who had successfully competed in the local and regional stages of the competition to gain a place in the national finals.

Club secretary Jo Green said: “We were really delighted to be selected to host these finals.

“We have a strong interest in girls’ and ladies’ cricket at Grantham CC but had never bid to host the competition before, so it was really fantastic to be selected and to work with the ECB in the planning and delivery of this event.”

Winners of the under-15 competition were North Devon Tarka Ladies and winners of the under-13s were Corsham Cricket Club.
