CRICKET: Meeting will decide future of Welby Cricket Club

A general meeting to decide the future of Welby Cricket Club will take place at the ground on Sunday at 10am.

It has been in existence for more than 100 years and chairman John Gascoyne said it had suddenly gone from being a thriving club in 2014 to one having difficulty fulfilling fixtures in 2015.

Mr Gascoyne said: “I as chairman appeal to all club members to attend, along with anyone interested in joining to keep us afloat.

“I have been involved with the club for over 60 years, along with some of the vice-presidents.

“We don’t want the club to fold, so please give us your support.”
