Bingham Cricket Club will face one of their biggest challenges on Friday, May 27 – the international line-up of opposition provided by ex-South African cricket legend Herschelle Gibbs and the Lashings All-Stars.
The All-Stars will be coming to Bingham to play a fundraising match against the sixth oldest club in the UK, a Twenty20 game starting at 4pm that afternoon.
Already confirmed for the Lashings team, as well as Gibbs himself, are ex-Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and England star Ryan Sidebottom and West Indies pace bowler Tino ‘Mind The Windows’ Best. Regulars for Lashings also include Pakistani spin-king Saqlain Mushtaq and Kiwi Scott Styris.
The day will start early with coaching for local schoolchildren at 11am, and from noon the Lashings stars will entertain 250 guests in a marquee on Bingham’s Butt Field ground.
Bingham CC club chairman Paul Maylard-Mason said: “This promises to be a huge day for the club and for cricket in the local area – we’re lucky in that Nottinghamshire are not playing at Trent Bridge and we think lots of people will want to watch the match.”
The club are also offering people the opportunity to play for Bingham Cricket Club on the day, via a closed auction, and tickets to watch the match will be available from April 27.
