CYCLING: Good turnout for Witham Wheelers’ championship 10TT

A good turnout of 42 riders contested Witham Wheelers’ 10-mile time trial championship at Gorse Lane last Tuesday.

Veteran Martin Hedley took advantage of the absence of some of the younger riders to take victory in 24min 28sec, nine seconds ahead of steadily-improving John Pilgrim. Mark Kokocinski finished third in 24.47.

First lady was Lara Thornhill (26.44) best junior boy was Alistair Golby (25.47). Top of the junior girls was Jennifer McAndrew in 28.43 with best juvenile girl being Eleanor Crawford in 33.06. Adam Egner was quickest juvenile boy in 27.36.

The Wheelers’ sole representative in the LRRA 50 was Martin Hedley. With fairly windy conditions on the Sleaford-Somerby-Donnington course, Martin recorded 2.14.08 to finish 32nd.
