A sunny Sunday morning for Witham Wheelers’ fifth reliability ride was only spoilt by a strong and chilly south-westerly wind which made for a tough ride on the rolling 48-mile route.

The first few miles were wind-assisted out through Welby before turning south into the wind down to Little Bytham and then across to South Witham, before heading back north with the wind through Skillington.

A good turnout of 48 riders split into four fairly even groups, with the less experienced riders in Group One enjoying a shorter route. The other three groups all kept together well in the windy conditions until the distance told on tired legs on the run-in through Skillington back to Gorse Lane.

This Sunday’s ride is another rolling 48-mile route down towards Rutland Water and back via Wymondham.

The first group will leave Grantham Cricket Club on Gorse Lane at 9am, with a shorter route for the less experienced riders looking to gain experience and fitness through group riding. All welcome.
