CYCLING: Grantham club well represented in latest Lincs League cyclo-cross races

Witham Wheelers were well represented at the latest round of the Lincolnshire Cyclo-Cross League at Spalding on Sunday.

Warm, dry conditions greeted the riders at Gleed Girls’ Technical College, with a flat playing field course plus added technical areas through woodland, a sandpit and frequent trips into a ditch.

Results: under-12 – 13 Tazmin Brown (3rd girl), 17 Bill Reed, 21 Max Moore, 25 Mazel Brown (4th girl), 31 Leo Moore, 33 Jessica Easet (9th girl), 37 Callum East; youth – 7 Robert McAndrew, 19 Elizabeth McLoughlin (9th girl); senior – 46 Sean East (16th veteran), 79 Graham McAndrew (28th vet), 82 Dave Miller (5th vet 60), 84 Jennifer McAndrew (7th lady).

Witham Wheelers host a round of the county cyclo-cross league this Sunday at Stroxton, just south of Grantham.

Although the most competitive riders will be riding dedicated cyclo-cross bikes, the course is also suitable for mountain bikes and open to all.

Entry is on the day, with races for the following categories: youths (under-16, born 1999-2002) 10.30am start, £5 entry (£8 without British Cycling racing licence) – 30-minute race; under-12 (born 2003 or later) 11.15am start, £2 entry – 15-minute race; juniors, vets, women, seniors (born 1998 or earlier) 12.15pm start, £10 entry (£13) – 60-minute race.
