Grantham’s Karl Baillie, of HMT Academy, has signed his first professional contract for the 2016 season with UK domestic professional cycling team Raleigh GAC.

Former Witham Wheeler Karl has raced across the continent in 2015 with the support of HMT Academy and looks forward to the new challenge as he moves into the senior ranks as a first year under-23.

He has enjoyed success in 2015 as a junior, taking a win in round nine of the British National Series and also rode to a win on stage two of the Junior Tour of the Basque Country in Spain.

Karl is very pleased to sign for the team, given their heritage and their new intention to give riders fresh out of the junior ranks a place in a UCI team where they can learn and grow with the help of more experienced and high profile racers.

He is looking forward to riding with current World Madison champion Morgan Kneisky.
