Witham Wheelers siblings Adam and Reece Egner contested the latest round of the Darley Moor circuit race series on Saturday.

Riding the category 3/4 race, the pair were among a 100-strong field, with many attempts at breakaways made in the dry but windy conditions

Adam tried a breakaway midway through with another rider joining him after a lap, but nothing came of it. After this effort, Adam decided to bring back breakaway efforts for his brother Reece to try and keep it to a sprint.

With two laps to go, Reece and three other riders broke away, trying to catch the solo rider in the lead. They stayed away to the sprint where Reece managed to claim fifth overall in the race, gaining another six points in the quest for his second category licence.

Adam rolled in behind the bunch after avoiding a last lap crash in the bunch.

In the following E123 event, Steve Young and Peter Cocker (Giant Rutland-Wattbike) rode a measured race in a good quality field.

All early breakaways were quickly brought back by the fast moving bunch, averaging 27mph for the race, until with three laps to go a four man break finally gained a 10 second lead. With no-one from the bunch willing to bridge the gap, they just hung on to contest the finish seconds in front of the fast closing bunch, with Steve bagging eighth in the sprint and Peter not far behind in 14th.
