CYCLING: Rutland Water hosts national series

MUD-plugging fans are in for a treat with the sixth round of the British Cycling National Trophy Series cyclo-cross competition at Rutland Water on Sunday.

The Rutland County CiCLE Classic ’Cross takes riders along the very edge of Rutland Water at Whitwell and is expected to attract the cream of both national talent and top riders from the continent. Last year’s elite race was won by Belgian Rob Peeters (Telnet-Fidea) who had finished fourth in the previous week’s Belgian Championships.

The programme of races for the day is as follows: 10.30am - veteran men 40-49, 10.31am - veteran men 50+, 11.30am - junior men, 11.31am - women elite and juniors, 12.30pm - under-12s, 1.30pm - youth men, 2.30pm - elite and under-23 men.

A car parking fee of £4 per car will be charged.
