CYCLING: Witham Wheelers enjoy rolling ride

The threatened snow and ice did not materialise but a combination of the previous night’s club dinner and a strong cold northerly wind meant only 23 riders signed on for Sunday’s Witham Wheelers reliability ride.

Those that did not missed an enjoyable ride over a rolling circuit that took in Oasby, Irnham and Castle Bytham, and then the final treat of 10 miles into a block headwind from South Witham back to Grantham.

All ability groups persevered and made it back to the headquarters for a hot drink and cake.

This Sunday’s ride is another 47-mile rolling route down to Cottesmore. The first group leaves Grantham Cricket Club, in Gorse Lane, at 9am. All welcome and a shorter route is also available.
