Members of Witham Wheelers went off-road to take part in Boston Wheelers’ round of the Lincolnshire Cyclo-cross League at Woodhall Spa on Sunday.

With a revamped course taking out the narrow single-track and the senior event split due to the large number of entries, there was some really good racing on the day.

First race was the under-12s over 15 minutes with Jessica East the first club rider to finish in 27th place and eighth girl. In the 30-minute under-16s, there was a great scrap between Robert McAndrew and Adam Egner, with the latter getting the better of his clubmate on the penultimate lap to take third place.

There were more than 80 riders in the 40-minute veterans/juniors/ladies race and Reece Egner put in his best race so far for 12th overall and third junior. Dave Moulds rode strongly for 29th overall and eighth in the over-50s.

In the final 50-minute senior race there were more than 50 riders but only one Wheelers rider taking part – Adam Jackson – who in his first ’cross season rode well for 25th.

Results: seniors – 25 Adam Jackson; vets/juniord/ladies – 12 Reece Egner (3rd junior), 29 Dave Moulds (8th vet 50), 31 Sean East (17th vet 40), 45 Jennifer McAndrew (6th lady), 51 John Farmer (24th vet 40), 69 Dave Miller (8th vet 60); youth – 3 Adam Egner, 4 Robert McAndrew, 20 Elizabeth McLoughlin (8th U14 /8th girl); U12 – 27 Jessica East (8th girl), 30 Joshua Farmer, 35 Callum East, 42 Noah Farmer.
