On Sunday, four Witham Wheelers club members took part in the Retford and District Wheelers 10 mile time trial event.

After a 30 minute delay to allow the fog to safely clear, the following times were recorded on a chilly morning: 8 Gary Symons 21min 43sec, 24 James Westwood 24.10, 30 Anthony Hardenberg 24.42, 31 Martin Lister 25.24.

Gary Symons kicked off his time trial season the previous day at the Scunthorpe Road Club 10 mile event near Kirton in Lindsey.

In good conditions for the time of year, he recorded a time of 21.20 to place him fifth overall.

Peter Cocker (Giant Store Rutland/Wattbike) travelled down to Evesham Vale to ride a 100km road race for Elite/1st/2nd/3rd category riders on Sunday.

In a strong 80 rider field, Peter rode a controlled race, and with a 26mph average speed restricting breakaway opportunities, a group of three riders just held on to a 10 second lead at the finish, which was won by Jacob Tipper (Pedal Heaven), with Peter near the front of the fast closing bunch in eighth overall.
